ATLANTA – While moving into his new home in Fairmount, a man stumbled onto a half-million dollar lottery prize. Eduardo White, 45, played the Georgia Lottery instant game $500,000 Monopoly and won $500,000.
"We just moved there over the weekend," he said. "While we were moving, I decided to stop to get breakfast, and I bought the ticket."
Shell Food Mart #0530, 921 Highway 53 S.E. in Calhoun, sold the winning ticket. White was in his car when he scratched it.
"I just couldn't believe it," he said. "I just closed on the house last Friday."
With his prize, White anticipates buying new home furniture and a new truck or minivan.
"This is awesome," he exclaimed. "It is a lot."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
