ATLANTA – Why did the chicken farmer in Rydal cross the road? To collect his $5 million prize, of course. Dennis Sutton, 51, won a $5 million top prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game World Class Millions.
He and his wife, Tina, are elated.
"I don't really think it's sunk in yet," said Sutton, who has a chicken farm.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Kroger #0446, 3895 Cherokee St. in Kennesaw. He scratched it while at the store.
With his new prize, Sutton is considering retiring the farm. He also intends to pay off bills.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
