ATLANTA – An Oakfield woman plans to help others with the $9,455 prize she won playing the Georgia Lottery Sit & Win game Rolling Jackpot. Rhonda Potts, 42, plans to give a portion of her winnings to a family in need.

"I'm giving 10 percent to a family with an ill child," Potts said. "His story has been all over the news."

The 4-year-old child, a resident of Albany, was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer.

Potts purchased her lucky ticket at Fast Eddie's Petro, located at 2400 Clark Avenue in Albany.

"I was waiting to pick up my son-in-law from work," she explained. "We were just trying to kill some time. That was the first time I ever played."

Potts, who is married with four children, is happy that she can help others.

"I just want to do something right," she said.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
