ATLANTA – A Cartersville man is on a whirlwind of a ride since winning a quarter-million dollar lottery win. Henry Wilson, 55, won $250,000 playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Bass Pro Shops $250,000 Cash Adventure.

Thanks to his 22-year-old daughter, Wilson decided to stop at BP Food Mart, 263 Cassville Road in Cartersville, when she announced that she had a lucky feeling. He dropped her off at home before scratching the ticket and got the surprise of his life.

"I didn't believe it," he said. "I shared the good news with her, and she almost went crazy."

With his winnings, Wilson plans to purchase a new home and pay off bills.

"Of course I'll pay off my daughter's bills," he added. "It feels nice to win the lottery. Yes it does."

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
