ATLANTA – Lottery luck has not fizzled for one Dalton woman. Wendy Owenby, a three-time lottery winner, is one of three players each to win a $128,483 jackpot prize from the Aug. 16 Fantasy 5 drawing.
The mother of two young children stopped for a soda and purchased a Quik Pik ticket at Knight's BP #0007, 1090 Red Bud Road in Calhoun. Winning numbers from the Aug. 16 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 3-15-20-30-33. The other winning jackpot tickets were purchased in Lookout Mountain and Savannah.
"It's crazy. I don't know what to think," she said of her most recent lottery win. "I'm very lucky."
Owenby, 25, also won $10,000 in 2005 and $50,000 in 2006 from playing the Georgia Lottery’s instant games.
"With that, I paid off bills and bought items for my kids," she said.
The lucky lottery winner, who works in a teen group home, intends to save her winnings.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning jackpot Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the jackpot winning tickets will share the bonus. Knight’s BP will share an $8,000 retailer incentive bonus.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
